The Weekly Sound – Terms & Conditions


Welcome to The Weekly Sound ("we," "us," or "our"). These Terms & Conditions explain how everything works — from submitting your guess to claiming your prize — and lay out the rules that keep the game fair and fun for everyone. They also include the usual legal bits we need to cover to protect everyone involved.

1. Eligibility

  • Open to residents of the United States.

  • You must be 18 years or older to participate.

  • Void where prohibited by law.

  • Employees, immediate family members, or affiliates of The Weekly Sound are not eligible to enter.

2. How to Enter

  • Submit your guess using the official entry form on our website.

  • Only one guess per person, per week — no exceptions.

  • Your phone number acts as your unique entry ID. It keeps things fair and is how we contact you if you win.

  • Submitting multiple entries, or using different phone numbers to get around this rule, will result in disqualification.

  • Entries close every Friday at 11:00 AM PT.

3. How Winners Are Chosen

  • Guesses are matched to the correct answer using our custom fuzzy matching algorithm.

  • A score of 90 or higher counts as correct. If no guess hits that score, we go with the closest valid match.

  • Among valid entries, the earliest correct guess wins.

  • Only one winner each week. No ties. No rollovers.

4. How Winners Are Contacted

  • After entries close, we call the person with the earliest correct guess.

  • If there's no answer, we try again after five minutes.

  • If there's still no answer, the prize moves to the next valid correct guess.

  • You must answer the call to win. If we can’t reach you, the prize goes to the next person in line.

5. Prize Delivery

  • Winners will receive a secure form to verify identity and submit bank details for payout.

  • Prizes may be paid directly to your nominated bank account.

  • Physical prizes are shipped to the address you provide.

  • Digital prizes (like gift cards) are sent via email.

  • Prizes can’t be transferred, exchanged, or swapped.

6. Personal Information & Privacy

  • By entering, you agree to receive weekly updates, clues, and winner announcements via SMS and email.

  • You can unsubscribe at any time, but doing so will remove you from future draws.

  • We collect only the information needed to run the contest — typically your name, phone number, and email.

7. Fairness & Integrity

  • Every sound and clue is created solely by James, the founder of The Weekly Sound.

  • The correct answer is entered into our system only after entries close — not before.

  • No one else, including our team, has access to the answer ahead of time.

  • This keeps the playing field completely level.

8. Community Standards

  • Be kind. Any abuse, spam, or cheating gets you disqualified — permanently.

  • All entries are time-stamped and securely logged.

9. Changes to the Contest

  • We may need to adjust, postpone, or cancel a weekly round due to technical issues or other unforeseen events.

  • If that happens, we’ll do our best to communicate clearly and promptly.

10. Website Use & Content

  • All logos, sounds, designs, and site content are owned by The Weekly Sound.

  • Please don’t copy, share, or reuse our content without permission.

  • Unauthorized use may result in legal action.

11. Liability

  • We’re not responsible for technical errors, delayed entries, or communication issues.

  • Entering is at your own risk. You agree that we aren’t liable for any damages or losses related to your participation.

12. Social Media

  • Our contest is not sponsored, endorsed, or affiliated with Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, X (formerly Twitter), or any other social platform.

13. Governing Law

  • These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas.

  • Any disputes will be resolved in accordance with Texas law and jurisdiction.

14. Links to Other Sites

  • Sometimes we link to sponsors or other third parties.

  • We’re not responsible for their content or practices.

15. Disclaimer

  • We do our best to keep things smooth and secure, but we can’t guarantee everything will always work perfectly.

16. Indemnity

  • By participating, you agree to hold us harmless against any claims, damages, or liabilities that arise from your entry or behavior.

17. Severability

  • If any part of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the rest still apply.

18. Force Majeure

  • We aren’t liable for any delay or failure caused by events beyond our control, like natural disasters or service outages.

19. Final Notes

  • These Terms are the official rules for participating in The Weekly Sound. If anything else on our site seems to contradict these, these Terms take priority.
